Name: Kit-kat |
Sex: F |
Age: 4 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: October 27, 2002
Kit-kat was purchased from Petco as a kit, and
was relinquished because of a lack of interest in making time to
give her attention and care for her.
She is playful and gets along well with other ferrets, but is on
long term medication for insulinoma. Kit-kat is from Triple F.
Kit-kat has moved into a foster home and lives with her extended
family of former CFN ferrets. While she is virtually a pet, CFN
still pays for her medications.
At 3:00 on the morning of December 24 Kit-kat began to have violent
seizures from insulinoma. She had been showing more and more signs of
her low blood sugar condition, but we had always been able to pull her
back with a little corn syrup and A/D soup, and a recent increase in
her medications seemed to help. On this morning there was no pulling
her out, and we could not leave her to suffer, and so we took her to
an emergency vet clinic (Vancouver
Animal Emergency Clinic -- they were very nice and ferret knowledgeable)
and helped her over the Rainbow Bridge. Kit-kat was loved by us and
her cage mates, and we all miss her sweet and gentle presence.

Name: Ricochet
 |
Sex: M |
Age: 3.5 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: August 13, 2002
Ricochet's owner left him in the care of a relative for one week,
but after 2 months the owner had not returned or contacted them to reclaim
his pet. When the caretakers noticed he was going bald, they took him to
a vet that luckily diagnosed Ricochet correctly as having adrenal disease.
This was too much for the caretakers to deal with, so Ricochet was turned
over to CFN. They told us that he loves going outside and playing with kids.
Currently he does not tolerate other ferrets, but he may be less aggressive
after adrenal surgery. Ricochet is from Marshall Farms.
Latest update for Ricochet.
Ricochet passed away on November 27 in the arms of his foster-parent. We'll
all miss this spunky little boy's enthusiasm and youthful spirit.

Name: Elliot (aka Cuddles)
 |
Sex: M |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: August 29, 2005
Placed: November 13, 2005
Elliot was found by a wonderful women who kept him for 5 days trying
to find his owner. After no one responded to her posters and advertisement
in the paper, she turned "Cuddles" over to CFN to find him a new home.
"Cuddles"' savior even decided to sponsor her charge to help pay for his
ADV testing and vaccinations to get him prepared for adoption. Elliot
is a beautiful sable, with butter-colored guard hairs around his neck.
He arrived with several fleas which were soon rid of after a nice bath.
His right front canine is broken almost to the root and should be removed.
Elliot is eating and drinking up a storm and he loves going through all
the tubes at his foster home and being tickled while he is out. Elliot
is from Marshall Farms.

other ferrets. Lita is from Marshall Farms.

Name: Pluto
 |
Sex: M |
Age: 3 years |
Color: sable mitt |
Arrived: November 2, 2002
Even though Pluto arrived separately from Twizler and
Kit-kat, we found out that they had been cage-mates previously.
Pluto's last owner had them 2 months and they were acquired from a family
friend. He was relinquished because he "required too much attention".
Pluto has cataracts and is not friendly to other ferrets so we want to
make sure he goes to a home where he would get a lot of
attention. Pluto and Kit-kat are regulars at Petsmart adoption
sessions. Pluto does not have any
tattoos to indicate his place of origin
Although they have been adopted, Kit-kat and Twizler still visit
Pluto each day at play time.
Pluto died peacefully in late October in his foster home. His friend,
Kit-kat, was with him until the end.

| Name: Zoey |
Sex: F |
Age: 3.5 years |
Color: cinnamon |
Arrived: January 9, 2005
Placed: October 10, 2005
Zoey was a stray found by her previous owners who kept her for about a
year before they decided she no longer fit into their lives. She is very
sparsely furred but makes up for it by giving copious kisses to humans.
Zoey has symptoms of adrenal disease, so she may need surgery in the
near future. She lived in a household with children, cats and dogs. Zoey
is from Marshall Farms.
Zoey had her adrenal surgery and has recovered well. We are hoping for
new fur growth to show up anytime.

|
Name: Midge
|
Sex: F |
Age: 3 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: July 13, 2004
Arrived: October 2, 2005
Midge is just a smidgen of a ferret. She was found as a stray and
the people that found her wanted to keep her, but they were unable to get
her to eat anything but cereal. They knew that wasn't the right thing to do
and after 2 months of trying they were so worried about how thin she was
that they decided to turn Midge over to CFN. Midge weighed less than a
pound when she arrived, but she has gained almost 100 grams after several
days of digging into a prescription diet most ferrets love. She is still
not very active which is a concern, no real play behavior, and she also has
the classic hair loss pattern of adrenal disease. Midge will be evaluated
for surgery after she has attained a normal weight. Midge is from Marshall
Farms.
Midge is doing so well no one would recognize her as the same frail
lifeless sprite that she arrived as. Now she is plump and is very
playful. She especially enjoys going through tubes and would love to
play with other ferrets. She is in a foster home where she has other
ferrets to interact with, but they aren't up to her energy level.
Midge was adopted by her devoted foster parents!

Name: Zella
|
Sex: F |
Age: 3.5 years |
Color: silver panda |
Arrived: 2001
Zella is a beautiful fluffy jill from a local breeder who isn't
willing to take on the responsibility for the animals they have brought
into the world for their personal enjoyment and profit. Zella has gotten
rid of the fleas and ear mites she arrived with, but still needs to be
spayed. She does not like other ferrets and needs some work in the nipping
department.
Latest update for Zella.
Zella died September 16th in the arms of her foster mom after a long
struggle with Insulinoma. When she first arrived, Zella would bite
hard and often, but over time she became tolerant of people, and liked
to hand wrestle with wild abandon. I personally loved to hold her
up against me and feel her shove against me with her legs in a
push-push move that was distinctly Zella.
Zella had a very strong personality, and she will be acutely missed by the
many volunteers who knew her.

Age: 2 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: August 9, 2005
Placed: September 9, 2005
Ophelia is an adorable, good natured youngster who likes other ferrets
a lot! She was a bit skittish around people at first, but is willing
to learn to trust them. Since she was found as a stray, there is no
history on her, but the feeling is that she may have been roughly
handled, possibly by children. She is quick and inquisitive, and
likes to climb everything in sight. Very ferrety! Ophelia is about
one to one and a half years, and is from Marshall Farms. She would be
a great ferret for a first-time adopter, or would make a nice addition
to an existing ferret home.

Arrived: August 1, 2005
Placed: September 9, 2005
Hufflepuff's rescuer was thrilled to find out she hadn't squished him
after he ran directly under her vehicle as she drove down a busy street
in Vancouver, WA one evening. Lucky for Hufflepuff she was familiar with
ferrets and was able to get him safely to her home where she tried for a
week to find his owner. No one seems to be trying to find Hufflepuff
though. He arrived heavily infested with horrible fleas and has large
scabs between his shoulders from scratching at the parasites.
Hufflepuff is from Marshall Farms.

Name: Spunky
 |
Sex: F |
Age: 6.5 years |
Color: dark sable |
Arrived: 1999, Returned: June 9, 2004
Died: August 11, 2005
Spunky was adopted in 1999 at 6 months of age and has
sadly returned because her owner had to move to California to live with
her parents because of a health issue. Spunky is still an active
and happy girl, despite her age and being placed
back in the shelter after 6 years of home life.
Latest update for Spunky.
Spunky died after a long struggle with bowel issues. Spunky remained
active well into old age, and we all miss her playful spirit and
gentle personality.
Original entry:
Spunky was found wandering through the parking lot of an
apartment building and was taken care of by a family of good
Samaritans for a month while they searching for her owner. When
no one claimed her, her caretakers tearfully turned her over to
the Cascade Ferret Network because they were not allowed to keep
pets where they lived. This adorable girl looks like a little
mink, but has a very sweet and gentle disposition. She loves
playing with humans and recently learned that other ferrets are
really fun too.

Name: Petree
 |
Sex: M |
Age: 2 years |
Color: cinnamon |
Arrived: May 7, 2004
Died: August 10, 2005
Petree was rescued from a neglectful home by a couple of ferret
enthusiasts. He had been raised on dog food and was extremely skinny and
had very loose stool. They took him to the vet and hand fed him, but were
unable to improve his weight or stools. Petree was also very inactive and
not interested in interacting with their other ferrets. They brought Petree
to us to see if we could help him. Petree only weighed a pound when we got
him, had a horrible infestation of ear mites, and was extremely dehydrated,
but he has responded to treatment with fluids, antibiotics and hand
feeding. Petree still isn't very active, but we are hoping that will
improve soon as well. Petree is from Marshall Farms.
Latest update for Petree.
Petree died in August after a long struggle with bowel issues: we'll miss
this sweet little boy.

Name: Amaretto |
Sex: F |
Age: 4.5 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: 2001
Amaretto is a mature jill that isn't shy about throwing a temper
tantrum when she wants out of her cage. Amaretto, along with all the other
retired breeders, have never had a real home before. Unfortunately she
is not willing to share her living arrangements with other ferrets.
Amaretto is the mother of Daria.
An update for Amaretto.
Amaretto's foster parent lost her Best Friend on July 29th after a long
struggle with lymphoma and heart disease. Amaretto was sometimes
known affectionately as "tank girl" because of her chunkiness and
her determined spirit. Her defiant personality will
be sorely missed.

Name: Bobbi Sue
|
Sex: F |
Age: 3.5 years |
Color: dark sable |
Arrived: 2002
These girls lived an unusual life aboard a boat docked at Hayden Island.
Billy Jean and Bobbi Sue's owner has had them since they were
kits, but was forced to give them up when he was evicted from his home. They
both seem to get along with other ferrets. Bobbi Sue and Billy Jean are from
Marshall Farms.
Billy Jean died in November of 2003.
Bobbi Sue is thriving in her foster home along with her foster
siblings Eowyn and Willow, plus her extended ferret family
(all former CFN ferrets).
An update for Bobbie Sue.
Bobbie Sue was helped over the rainbow bridge on July 27, 2005 after a long
battle with insulinoma. Willow, Hermione, Chantilly, Twizler,
Kit-kat and their human counterparts miss her.

|
Name: Eowyn
 |
Sex: F |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: cinnamon |
Arrived: February 24, 2004
Eowyn was lucky to be found by a wonderful and caring couple who were
so worried about her condition that they rushed her over to the shelter even
though it was after 10 pm. In the short time they had her, she had already
stolen their hearts and they would have loved to keep her, but knew a ferret
was not a match for their lifestyle. Eowyn was a bit thin and had some
tar-like substance stuck to her feet and fur, but gladly ate some cat food
which her saviors were relieved to see. Eowyn is very shy and still hasn't
come out of her shell and really played like a normal ferret. She does
seem to have some problem with her hindquarters either from muscle atrophy
or a past injury that causes her to walk funny. Eowyn is from Marshall Farms.
Eowyn is doing well in her foster home along with her foster
siblings Bobbi Sue and Willow, plus her extended ferret family
(all former CFN ferrets). Eowyn is having trouble with a skin condition
that makes her scratch a lot, and as such her coat is a bit patchy right
now, but she is on medication for this problem.
Eowyn died on July 21st after a long struggle with lymphoma. Her foster
parents and ferret play mates miss her.

| Name: Kiki |
Sex: F |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: July 8, 2005
Kiki is bald with a slightly swollen vulva, classic symptoms of
adrenal disease. When her new owners found out about the need and cost
for surgery they left Kiki at the vet to be euthanized. Kiki is not past
middle age, what a tragedy. I'm sure many ferrets face this end to their
lives because most people that get ferrets don't realize how common it
is for them to have expensive veterinary problems, don't get a ferret
unless you can afford to provide that care! Kiki will get surgery and
a chance to find an educated new home to spend the second half of her
life. Kiki is from Marshall Farms.
Kiki died just after surgery because of a pre-existing but undetected
health issue.

Name: Forrest Gump |
Sex: M |
Age: 6 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: March 24, 2005
Forrest Gump got his name from his foster caretaker because he
literally runs everywhere. He was surrendered because his owners no
longer wanted to make the time to give him attention. Gump is showing
symptoms of adrenal disease such as bald patches and coarse fur. He is
very sweet and gives selective kisses. Gump is from Marshall Farms.
Gump died on July 14th after undergoing bilateral adrenal surgery. We
all miss this sweet little man.

and seem very good natured. Rufus is from Marshall Farms and Foxy is
from a breeder we have been told is called Triple H.

| Name: Weasley |
Sex: M |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: silver mitt |
| Name: Veela |
Sex: F |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: silver mitt |
Arrived: 2000
Weasley and Veela just arrived from California and are
quite unsure about their situation. Weasley is a cautious, but gentle boy,
while Veela is beautiful, but very frightened and bites. We're looking
for a good foster home for these kids where they can recover with lots
of TLC before finding a permanent home.
Update: these kids are flourishing in their foster home (in Astoria,
so we need a lot of advance notice if you want to meet them) and would
make great ferrets for any family! while Weasley is quite sweet, Veela
is still getting used to human interaction.
Weasley passed away in May 2002 after a prolonged struggle with a
serious illness.
Veela had adrenal surgery in the last year, but is now bald again. More
important than being bald is that she has mysteriously started to have
problems with her hindquarters. She is now paralyzed and her bladder has
to be manually expressed by her foster parent. She doesn't seem to be in
pain and is still in good spirits with a good appetite. Cancer is
suspected as the cause of the paralysis, but has not been proved.
Veela died in the arms of her devoted foster parent on June 10th
after a progressive series of health problems

Sex: F |
Age: 1 year |
Color: silver |
Arrived: June 18, 2005
Placed: July 2, 2005
Bumper was lucky enough to be spotted by an on duty police
officer while she was running down the highway dodging cars (hence the
name) at five in the morning. She was in sorry shape, but uninjured.
Bumper's rescuer reported that Bumper was skin and bones and loaded
with fleas. In the week Bumper stayed with the officer she gained weight,
got rid of the fleas and ferreted her way into the officer's heart. The
officer decided she could not keep Bumper because she rescues boarder
collies. Bumper is a beauty with a wonderful personality. She is from
Marshall Farms

| Name: Sunshine |
Sex: F |
Age: 3.5 years |
Color: blaze |
Arrived: May 17, 2005
Placed: July 2, 2005
Sunshine is a beautiful sprite that needs adrenal surgery. She looks
like she would be a blaze if she had all of her fur. She came to us from
a young couple who were not responsible enough to plan for the
eventuality of needing to provide adrenal surgery for their pet. They
could not afford to give her the veterinary care she needs. They also
moved across the country and left her behind with a parent, a very
typical scenario. Sunshine has lived with other ferrets but is
intimidated by rough housing. She has lived with dogs and cats and is
fine with kids. Sunshine is from Marshall Farms.

Arrived: 2000
Placed: July 6, 2005
Gizmo was found as a unnuetered stray in Medford and was
transported north to find a new home. He was adopted about a

makes up for his size with attitude. Gizmo has not been descented.
Latest update for Gizmo.

|
Name: Lindsey
|
Sex: F |
Age: 6 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: August 2, 2004
Lindsey was rescued from a life of neglect. She was left in a cage
in the backyard without proper shelter from the weather and often without
food or water. She was very thin and almost totally bald upon arrival, but
had an excellent appetite and was soon no longer a walking skeleton. It
appears she is even getting in some peach fuzz in some of her bald spots.
Lindsey is in a foster home where she enjoys begging for the attention of
her foster parent and interacting with the other friendly ferrets in the
household. Lindsey is from Marshall Farms.
Lindsey is in a foster home and is barely recognizable as the ferret
that was bald and seemed barely alive upon her arrival. She is plump and
has a full coat of hair. She does not really enjoy the company of other
ferrets and still does not exhibit the typical carefree joyful ferret
dance of joy, but loves to be cuddled by her foster parent.
Near the end of June Lindsey passed away in the arms of her foster parent.
Lindsey had respiratory issues that did not respond to treatment and
were unable to diagnose before her death. A thorough necropsy found she
died of a rare fungal infestation of her respiratory tract.

| Name: Marmot |
Sex: M |
Age: 3 months |
Color: sable |
Arrived: May 2, 2005
Placed: June 19, 2005
Marmot was purchased on a whim from Scamps pet store by an immature 18
year old who stopped caring for him within a week or two of brining him
home. The rest of the family was becoming attached to the adorable
little guy, but knew they weren't prepared to take on the responsibility
of caring for him properly, so they turned him over to CFN to find a new
home. Marmot is very clumsy and extremely energetic: a comical
combination to watch. He still makes a lot of whiny baby sounds when he
doesn't like what the humans are doing. He also still nurses on a little
stuffed duck that came with him. Marmot is from a breeder we have been
told is called Triple H.
A long time CFN supporter took both Marmot and Tulip home.

| Name: Tulip |
Sex: F |
Age: 1.5 years |
Color: silver mitt |
Arrived: May 28, 2005
Placed: June 19, 2005
After being rescued from some little boys who were hiding her in the
bushes in a tiny, dirty smelly cage (with no food or water bottle),
Tulip was turned over to CFN by the good Samaritan who saved her.
Tulip is an exceptional ferret! Her hearing and sense of smell are very
keen, and her big black eyes and black button nose are just too cute for
her own good. She loves to play, and bursts into dooks and dances for no
particular reason, as good ferrets do. She is gentle as she
interacts in play, and will likely be a great companion for other young
ferrets; ideally her new forever family will have lots of time to spend
with her, because she has the potential to be an outstanding special
ferret! Tulip is from Marshall Farms.
A long time CFN supporter took both Tulip and Marmot home.

Arrived: 2001
placed: may 12, 2005
These scamps are always ready for action and are very entertaining to
watch play! They were given up by their owner because of housing
conflicts and lack of time. Jinx and Minx
are a little on the feisty side as far
as attitude goes and need to go to a home that is not intimidated by
their roughhousing. They seem to get along with other ferrets. The girls
don't have any tattoos, but were purchased from Petco and are spayed and
descented.
Jinx and Minx were adopted by their long-time foster parent.

Arrived: June 10, 2003,
Placed: July, 2003,
Returned: January, 2005
Placed: May 8, 2005
China and Minnie were part of a group of five that were
reluctantly given up to prevent eviction of their owner. They have been
very pampered and were used to the good life. China and Minnie were
lucky to get adopted into a home where they will be totally spoiled and
catered to for the rest of their lives (and have cool new names). They
were purchased at Petco and come from Marshall Farms.
China and Minnie were adopted to a wonderful home nearby in mid 2003, but
one of China and Minnie's owners developed severe allergies that actually
caused scar tissue in her lungs. She has been forced to not only return
these two darling girls, but move to the arid southwest for health reasons.
Note that China's and Minnie's ages have been adjusted to reflect their
age in January 2005.

Color: silver mitt |
Arrived: January 9, 2005
Placed: May 1, 2005
This business of ferrets had to be given up because their owner is going

unneutered stray (since neutered). Gilligan gets along with the others
in the home but has not been friendly to new ferrets he has met. Their
former owner felt that Annie and Baby should stay together, and
he told CFN that they are both deaf. We also want to keep Buffalo Girl
and Booboo together. They are all very active and have
beautiful coats, except for Annie who has a bare butt, and so may need
adrenal surgery. All of them except Gilligan are from Marshall Farms.

Mulligan is a wonderfully gentle young gib that loves other ferrets
and people. Mulligan has had two homes already in his short life. His
current owners were unable to keep him when they had to move. Mulligan got
along well with cats and dogs in his previous home. Mulligan is from
Marshall Farms.
Mulligan went to a home that already had lots of other ferret friends
from the CFN.

Name: Ione
|
Sex: F |
Age: 1 year |
Color: sable |
Arrived: November 30, 2004
Placed: April 8, 2004
Ione was a stray found under a bench in the park blocks of southwest
Portland. The Good Samaritan that found her was worried when she wasn't
eating and playing like a normal ferret and called CFN for help. Ione is a
beautiful young ferret and at first we though she just needed some time and
the right food to recover from her adventure, but in a few days it was
evident that she had more serious health issues. Ione showed increasing
neurological problems with balance and motor movements, she also refused to
eat. After a trip to vet for an exam and blood tests we found out she had a
fever, an abnormally high heart rate, and was anemic. Antibiotics and anti
inflammatory drugs have not done any good and she is scheduled for a bone
marrow biopsy to see if that can tell us more about how we can help her.
Ione is from Marshall Farms
The bone marrow biopsy didn't go well and no sample was obtained.
Unfortunately, the procedure caused some kind of injury to the hind leg
the biopsy was going to be taken from. It took many weeks, but she is
finally using the leg again. Ione continues to improve, she doesn't have
a fever anymore and her heart rate has decreased to a normal rate. We
still don't know what caused her to have the problems she did, but she
continues to improve on her own, although she is still not eating
enough kibble on her own so is getting supplemental feedings of a/d soup
several times per day. She loves other ferrets and only began acting
like a normal ferret after she was allowed to play with other ferrets.
Ione was placed with Becket in a wonderful home up in Washington.

| Name: Becket |
Sex: F |
Age: 3 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: December 17, 2004
Placed: April 8, 2004
Beckett's second owner had her only a few months before she was
abandoned when her owner moved to another state. She has been around very
young children and did well with them. Unfortunately Beckett has been fed
a very poor quality cat food and her coat is in bad shape. She isn't too
keen on the idea of switching to better food, picking out all the bad stuff
mixed in with the good stuff. Beckett is from Marshall Farms.
Beckett is eating good quality food, has grown in new fur, gained weight
and is more playful than when she arrived. She has started to give
kisses and chuckle and loves to be with other gentle ferrets (no rough
housing please).
Beckett was placed with Ione in a wonderful home up in Washington.

Name: Hattie
 |
Sex: F |
Age: 6 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: September 6, 2002
Died: April 3, 2005
Hattie was purchased in New York and lived with her
family all of her life. Then the miracle of childbirth occurred
in her house, and Hattie was disposed of like garbage. Honestly,
the number of people who think having a child gives them carte blanc to
be completely irresponsible in every other aspect of life never
ceases to amaze us.
Hattie is a very affectionate ferret who gives lots of kisses,
gets along with other ferrets who are nice to her, and gets along with
cats, dogs and even kids!
Latest update for Hattie.
Hattie passed away in the arms of her loving foster parent
on April 3rd, 2005.

| Name: Gabby |
Sex: F |
Age: 4.5 years |
Color: silver mitt with bib |
Available: January 15, 2005
Placed: March 20, 2005
Gabby is currently living in Astoria with her family and cage-mate
Jeb. Jeb is not going to live much longer and Gabby's owners want her to
have another ferret companion, but don't want to get another ferrets so
they are hoping to find her a new home with a buddy. Gabby is very friendly
with cats and dogs and absolutely loves people and has never bitten
anyone. She used to go to visit a school every year so the kids could
see what a ferret looked like and how they behaved.
Gabby comes when called and is "sort of" leash trained, but is not the
best about using the litter box. She doesn't chew on cords or anything
else except fleece animals with squeakers in them (she tears the
squeakers out). She is a light gray with a white bib and white front
feet with really dark burgundy eyes (not red ones). Her owner states
"If someone adopts her, I know they will be calling me telling me that
she is the best ferret they have ever owned."
If you think you could give Gabby a good home and have a friendly
ferret companion for her, please contact CFN to find out more about
adopting her.
Gabby finally found the perfect new home. Her new owners came all the
way from the Tacoma area to meet her in Astoria. Gabby got along with their
older ferrets and will be spoiled for the rest of her life.

| Name: Mirth |
Sex: F |
Age: 2 years |
Color: cinnamon |
Arrived: August 2, 2004
Placed: March 15, 2005
Mirth had a dull lifeless look in her eyes when she arrived. She was
infested with fleas, so unfortunately her first activity was a long bath to
eliminate the little monsters. She was soon polishing off an entire bowl of
food everyday and was thrilled to get a chance to dance and play. Mirth's
first encounters with other ferrets haven't gone well: she was on the
offensive, but not aggressive enough to entirely rule out the possibility
of ferret friends in the future. Mirth is from Marshall Farms.
Mirth has decided other ferrets are very fun to play with and would
do great in a home with an established ferret family.
Mirth has gone home with Fritz, her former shelter playmate.

| Name: Kewpie |
Sex: F |
Age: 9 weeks |
Color: dark-eyed white |
Arrived: February 8, 2005
Placed: February 27, 2005
Kewpie was a tiny terrified little kit all by herself in more than
one way. She had no ferret companions for comfort and she was also deaf.
Kewpie had been removed from her mother before the recommended age of
weaning and sent across the country to Seattle with lots of other baby
ferrets. Within days she was separated from all the other babies and sent to
a pet store in Woodburn. It is not hard to understand why Kewpie attacked
anything that came near her. Rather than return her to Marshall Farms, the
pet store was willing to turn her over to a shelter and get a refund. Once
she arrived, it didn't take long for Kewpie to realize she was among people
that loved her. She immediately went to a foster home where she was lavished
with attention, lots of handling, and lots of ferretone. She never even had
to be taught not to bite. Kewpie went from 380 to 530 grams in about 2 weeks
and grew even larger in the hearts of her foster caretakers. Kewpie is from
Marshall Farms.

Age: 2.5 years |
Color: silver |
| Name: Mungus |
Sex: M |
Age: 1.5 years |
Color: sable mitt |
Arrived: November 13, 2004
Placed: February, 2005
Mungus and Percy were left to "fend for themselves" at a
vacant farm house along with two cats. A Good Samaritan who lives nearby
rescued them and brought them to CFN to find a new home. Percy is a little
thin, but they have both been hitting the food bowl hard and now Mungus
is a huge hunk with a gorgeous soft coat. Percy has golden fur mixed with
black and an adorable completely black nose. Mungus has cute white mitts,
bib and a narrow stripe on his head, and he also has a kind of odd face in
that his eyes are not the same size. He may be a little slow mentally as
well, or maybe it is just the extra weight, but he is very mellow and
hugable, while Percy is very active and talkative -- both get along well
with other ferrets. They are being treated for ear mites. Mungus is from
Marshall Farms. Percy does not have any tattoos to indicate where he is from.

Name: Loki
 |
Sex: M |
Age: 2.5 years |
Color: sable |
Arrived: 2001
Died: February 12, 2005
Loki is a very talkative guy who knows how to have fun even
in a pet carrier. He doesn't mind being held and even though he doesn't
give kisses with his tongue he will give you "Eskimo" kisses with his nose.
Loki has been in two homes so far, his most recent owners decided to find
him a new home when the kids in the family lost interest in him and were
not giving him enough attention. He is pretty scruffy looking right now
because he needs adrenal surgery. Loki is from Marshall Farms.
Loki died mid February, and is missed by his former cage-mate Zima, his
foster parent and all the volunteers who he gave kisses to so freely

| Name: Ruby |
Sex: F |
Age: 2 years |
Color: albino |
Arrived: December 19, 2004
Placed: February 5, 2005
Ruby's second owner bought her from someone that was moving across
the country. She noticed that Ruby had a swollen vulva at that time, and
since she was an educated owner, she knew Ruby needed vet care. Ruby had
surgery to remove her left adrenal gland in September. She recovered from
the surgery and her vulva swelling gradually disappeared. Unfortunately a
couple weeks ago the swelling reappeared even larger than before. The
swelling was also associated with a drastic change in behavior. Ruby was now
biting the owner's daughter and having problems getting along with her
cage-mate. Ruby's owner felt she had no choice but to relinquish her to a
shelter and hope she would have a better life. Ruby will have a second
adrenal surgery, which may or may not fix her condition and behavior
issues. Ruby is from Marshall Farms.

This business of ferrets had to be given up because their owner is going
to Iraq. Gilligan was adopted from CFN in 200 as a 4 month old
unneutered stray (since neutered). Gilligan gets along with the others
in the home but has not been friendly to new ferrets he has met. Their
former owner felt that Annie and Baby should stay together, and
he told CFN that they are both deaf. We also want to keep Buffalo Girl
and Booboo together. They are all very active and have
beautiful coats, except for Annie who has a bare butt, and so may need
adrenal surgery. All of them except Gilligan are from Marshall Farms.
Booboo and Buffalo Girl found a wonderful new home together.
