Columbia
May 7, 2003

Rebecca Bogorad a devoted volunteer and ferret lover, but not a ferret owner (yet), sponsored three ferrets: Ringo, Martin, and Columbia! Columbia arrived with her cagemate, Magenta, in October, 2002 from Longview, Washington. They were in poor shape and their age was estimated to be 5 years. No information arrived with the girls other than the current owner had had them for 3 years. Both showed advanced adrenal disease and were loaded with fleas. Tragically, Magenta died in November when her adrenal tumor ruptured before she able to be scheduled for surgery. Columbia had her adrenal surgery is doing great. She is VERY talkative and energetic and adores playing with people. She is keeping Bethwyn, another old-timer, company during play time, but she also enjoys having younger more playful companions. She had a 3 month old boy, Norbert to play with until he was adopted. Columbia is past the age most people are willing to adopt and because of the adrenal disease in her past, it is doubtful she will ever be adopted into a permanent home. Hopefully we can place her in a foster home in the future where she will get more one-on-one play time with humans.
