June 7, 2005 Natasha is sponsored by Crystal Johnston from Georgia. Crystal's father wanted to reward Crystal for her devotion to and care of her two ferrets Rascal and Roxy, so he decided to sponsor a shelter ferret in her name. After much consideration and deliberation, Crystal choose the best ferret in the network: Natasha! Natasha originally arrived in early 2000 when she was only about one year of age. She came with her cagemate Boris. They were adopted shortly thereafter into a home with other ferrets. Near the end of 2000, her cagemate Boris was returned to the shelter because of behavioral problems. Natasha was doing well with her new ferret friends and family, but the family turned out to not be stable and Natasha along with her two ferret friends came back to the shelter in October of 2001. Natasha had quite a few health issues in her relatively short life in her previous home. She has already had her left adrenal gland removed and was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, so she is on a special diet and gets supplemental feedings to keep her weight up. Her former owner felt she would happy being an only ferret and since it is VERY hard to place three ferrets in the same home, Natasha remained at the shelter when her former friends were adopted. Natasha has a great personality, but most people are not willing to adopt a ferret of her age that doesn't like other ferrets and has some known health issues. She was lucky though when a shelter volunteered offered to foster her. Natasha is doing wonderful in her foster home, and has won over her foster parents completely. She's gained weight and has grown a stunning new coat. She's also treated like a queen and now expects royal treatment from everyone. |
